Meet Jordan Nelson.

I am so excited to introduce you guys to my newest sponsor! Jordan, also known as DJ Fayze, is a motivated young man with a love for music and entertainment. In a short time he has started his own entertainment business and turned into a full time career. I met with Jordan to take some photos of him and do an interview. Be sure to keep an eye on the blog for his guest posts coming soon!

Tell us about yourself Jordan
Well my name is Jordan Nelson, I am a St George native and absolutely love Utah. I’m from a family of 5 and am the oldest of 3 kids. Music is my passion! I play piano, drums, guitar, ukulele, and obviously DJ! I recently became engaged to a gorgeous girl and am excited to return to school at the University of Utah.
How did you decided to become a DJ?
I was actually at a church dance of all places! We showed up a little early and I somehow made my way over to the booth to request a song. Turns out they actually hired someone good for once and I was intrigued by how he mixed the music. Thanks to my curiosity and OCD the second I got home I got online, bought a mixer, and started to mix in my bedroom. I did my first birthday party on a borrowed speaker and cheap lights and when people started to ask me to do their own events I made it a full time job. I worked overtime all summer, saved $10,000, and bought my own nice equipment. Since then I’ve done over a hundred parties, weddings, and other events varying from 50 to 2,000 people.
How did you come up with the name DJ Fayze?
Sadly I don’t have a cool story. Right before the business really took off I was at my other job and since it was slow I threw out the idea of coming up with a name for myself. Something that would be easy to say and remember. I thought “phase” sounded really cool and one of my colleagues suggested to just change the spelling to Fayze and the rest is history!

What has been the most rewarding thing about starting your own business?
To be able to be self employed and make money while doing what I love! I’ve learned how to market, proved a quality service, and help customers have a blast at their events. It is so awesome to be able to do things how I want and in a way that will really make people say “WOW!” I love interacting with different people and coming up with unique and individualized ideas to make their event go smoothly and just the way they imagined.

What are your future plans and goals for your business?
I hope to be able to fill my weekends this summer and then firmly establish my business in the northern Utah area. I’ve already had a great time doing events in the Salt Lake area and at the University of Utah so I can’t wait to expand my audience and branch all over Utah. I hope to reach my goal of having an event every weekend and providing for my new family through college. I plan to keep expanding, getting more equipment, and being capable of handling bigger events.
Other than music, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love the gym. You’ll find me their almost everyday. I also love getting out for a hike or skim boarding in the summer. There is also nothing like reading a good book! Then there is the tried and true eating while watching Netflix on a lazy day. But I spend a lot of my time programming light shows and making new mixes.
Anything else you would like to share?
The only thing I would like to add is an invite to check out my website (see below) and send me an email if you are planning an event! I have a great referral system where if you tell someone about my business and they hire me for the event I’ll give $20.00! It’s as simple as sharing my Facebook post. You can also connect with me on Facebook and Twitter (see below for links) to see pictures and videos from recent events. I really take pride in giving you the best experience and service unlike anyone else!
