Tell us about yourself:
My name is Kyle Schoney, I have lived in St George for the last 11 years and I am married to my beautiful wide for the last two years! I love to travel and be spontaneous.
What got you into photography?
My mom had a single lens reflex film camera when I was younger and it was off limits! So naturally I always wanted to play with it. When I was 21 I bought my own camera and started playing with it from there. Funny enough once I started photography my mom gave me her old camera and lenses, and I still shoot on it all the time.
What inspires you to stay motivated?
I am driven by networking and meeting new people, so when I find new couples I am always excited to be part of their life because you never know what people have to offer. I love seeing people achieve their true potential and if I can be a part of that – all the better.
What is you favorite style to shoot?
I enjoy landscape the most, because if I don’t get exactly what I want I can push myself harder to learn exactly what I need to do in order to achieve the result. It helps me in all aspects of photography.
Besides photography, what do you like to do?
Wakeboard. I have been wakeboarding since I was a little kid and I do all that I can to show others the sport I love so much. I still compete in competitions every summer and it’s always fun to shoot my friends while we ride.
What camera do you use?
I use a Canon 7D and an AE-1. I have been pretty heavily involved with filming projects lately and am thinking of making the jump to Sony.
What advice do you give your clients when they prepare for photos?
Working with people has always come easy to me, a lot of people are nervous to get their photos taken so if they have certain ideas of a shot that they specifically want please provide it for me. Other than that, relax and let me do my job while you enjoy you and the company you brought with you. If you can do this everything will work out better than you could have imagined.
What is your favorite memory while shooting a client?
I don’t have a specific favorite but more a general one. I love when my clients trust me enough to choose the location of where we are shooting. I love the outdoors and travel a lot so my wife and I are always looking for beautiful locations that I could take clients. Sadly a lot of brides don’t want to hike 3 or 4 miles with a wedding dress but when they do we get some breathtaking images.
