It has been incredibly long since I last did a life update post! Like, I was 30 weeks pregnant when I did my last one, #oops. SO much has happened in the last 6 months I don’t even know where to begin. If you follow me on Instagram then you probably have a good idea but if not, here is a break down for you!
The Good Stuff
>> We had our little boy Mattix in October and are slightly obsessed with him.
>> I started back at work the beginning of January after my maternity leave and we all have adjusted nicely! Mattix loves his sitter and we are so grateful for her and for our family stepping up to watch him as well.
>> We moved in with my parents about a month after Mattix was born. We really want to try and buy a house this year so we decided moving back home would be a great way for us to pay off some debts and save some money.
>> Dakota had an appointment with an epilepsy specialist a couple weeks ago and we are hoping we can get some tests done. Hopefully we can figure some solutions out so he feels comfortable driving and watching Mattix by himself.
>> We got a new (to us) car! It’s a beautiful white Jeep Grand Cherokee and I absolutely love it! It’s the perfect family vehicle without being a minivan, ha.
>> My little sister Morgan came home from her mission! She was in New York for 18 months and it’s so nice to have her home and finally meet Mattix. Also, having her wardrobe is a bonus 😉
>> Our friends Alyssa and Eric announced that they are pregnant with twin girls! We couldn’t be more excited for them.
The bad stuff
>> 9 days after Mattix was born he stopped breathing and we had to call 911. That was easily the scariest moment of my life! Thankfully we were able to get him breathing during the call and we didn’t need assistance from the EMTs but you better believe I didn’t let go of him for two days straight!
>> A month after Mattix was born we were all hit by a drunk driver. Mattix was totally fine, slept through the whole thing (ha), but Dakota and I were super sore. We’ve been seeing a chiropractor and have been doing really well. Plus we got a new car out of it! We are currently working with an attorney to hopefully get some money out of the situation.
>> Dakota has had three seizures since October and because of it can’t drive. Thankfully we are able to manage our work schedules perfectly where we don’t miss any days or time. Having one car has been interesting but totally doable! He should be having a 3 day EEG soon to see what his brain activity is like and from there we should be able to better maintain his seizures.
In my spare time
>> I recently received a calling in my church as an Activity Days leader. If you aren’t familiar with the program, we set up weekly activities with 8-9 year olds. They have a program called Faith in God that has requirements and values for them to learn and complete and the leaders help them earn their certificate. It is a lot of work but so much fun! The girls in my group are very outgoing so it makes for a fun time.
>> Time after work is typically spent cleaning and playing with our little boy. He is starting to roll over and getting close to sitting up! He also finally figured out how to actually jump in his jumper so that has been entertaining.
>> Weekends we try to spend time as a family going on walks or hanging out with friends or letting mom catch up on some sleep!
